Theoil pressure circuit is simple. the dash controls the voltage and the circuit will be 12 volts. when the oil pressure drops the ball bearing in the sensor loses pressure and therefore moves to the off position and breaks the circuits earth so the 12 volt circuit becomes open circuit and the dash warning light comes on. Asfar as cars, I have had experience with oil pressure sensor failure before on one other car. That car was easy to tell it was the sensor though as it had a digital PSI readout.
